Key Details
Annual Salary: $70,000
Work hours: LeBlanc (& co.) Communications has a 4 day (32 hour) work week for salaried employees, from Monday-Thursday.
Vacation: We provide 4 weeks vacation per year and a company shutdown between Christmas Eve and New Year’s.
Location: This role will be hybrid in Canada with a mix of primarily virtual and some in-person work. This position requires the ability to work in Canada. There is a preference for candidates in Winnipeg, Ottawa, or Halifax but candidates in other locations will be considered.
Contract Length: 2 years
Health Benefits: This position will come with partial subsidy of health benefits or a $100 / month stipend in lieu of benefits
Job Description
As LeBlanc (& co.) Communications grows, we will put some strategy projects under the co-leadership of the Principal Consultant and the Strategist. Working closely with the Principal Consultant, the Strategist will draft organizational communications plans; message guides; campaign strategy documents; and other strategic materials.
The Strategist will prepare ‘desk research’ for environmental scans and SWOT analyses for clients in addition to staying on top of sector news, trends, and best practices.
The Strategist will conduct revisions of strategy documents and materials after receiving feedback from the Principal Consultant and from clients, while always keeping organized and meeting deadlines during revision processes.
The Strategist will, to a high standard, copyedit documents before they are sent to clients, ensuring ‘quality assurance’ in English grammar.
The Strategist will support the Principal Consultant in preparing for and attending client meetings with tasks such as drafting agendas; taking notes; and leading meetings when necessary.
In addition, the Strategist will perform other writing-related tasks such as editing or writing client materials such as but not limited to social media content, web copy, reports, or copy for written materials.
The Strategist will collaborate with the Project Manager and Principal Consultant to build and refine relevant standard operating procedures and other materials for the company.
The Strategist will work to stay on top of sector news and best practices.
The Strategist will maintain a proactive, open stream of internal communication with the Principal Consultant, Project Manager, and any other relevant colleagues when working on client projects.
Required Communications Experience and Skills
- Experience in social impact work, including specifically in social impact communications, and a commitment to social change and equity
- Significant experience writing communications plans and key messaging
- Significant experience ‘diagnosing’ branding, messaging, and communications problems (likely gained as a consultant or in a leadership role in social impact communications)
- Expert level copyeditor in English
- Experience with leading advocacy campaigns
- Experience with public affairs and familiarity with engaging the Canadian government
Required General Skills

- Ability to receive and act on feedback from the Principal Consultant, clients, and other colleagues
- Ability to foster relationships with clients; meet client requests; and bring excellence in ‘client service
- Ability to be organized, meet deadlines, and conduct project management work under the guidance of the company’s operational systems and purview of the Project Manager
